About ILIPG

The INNOVATIVE LIBRARY INITIATIVES PROMOTION GROUP (ILIPG) is a group of librarians in Istanbul who runs and supports several activities in order to

• give impetus to improving the standards of public libraries in Turkey
• activate and / or expand librarians’ networks and global networking, both within Turkey and on an international level
• stimulate lobbying efforts for libraries in Turkey
• enhance the professional and technical skills of librarians and library students.

For this end, ILIPG is i.e. organizing seminars and workshops with local and foreign speakers, arranging short-term work experiences in “model” libraries in Turkey and abroad and translating documents into Turkish from English and other languages about innovative developments / new standards in other countries.

ILIPG is working closely together with the Turkish Librarians’ Association (TKD).

ILIPG consists of librarians from various libraries in Istanbul, i.e. University Libraries, Libraries of foreign Cultural Institutes and of faculty members of the Department of Information and Record Management of Istanbul University.
